a conventional category that identifies some pieces of music as belonging to a shared tradition or set of conventions. It is to be distinguished from musical form and musical style, although in practice these terms are sometimes used interchangeably.

Music publicist Rachel Hurley and producer, engineer and musician Chris Swenson want to talk about music genres.
We’re not experts, as music genres are fluid and subjective. But together, we do have about 70 years of experience in the music industry to inform our opinions.
